Finally! I was able to wear a yukata (summer kimono) yesterday to witness the Yokohama’s Fireworks Festival. Because of privacy (Japan gov’t is very strict about that), most pictures will showcase the ob belts of random people.
I was very fortunate that I was able to wear my mother-in-law’s 25-year-old yukata. She also dressed me up and tied the belt herself. Some ob belts can be bought with ready made ribbons just like that of my friend Gabi’s.
The fireworks display was spectacular that it ran for 1 and a half hours. It was my first time to experience this festival in Japan and I am very grateful. Please stay tuned for pictures of the event on my next post.
